Christine Hunsicker, founder of clothing rental tech startup CaaStle, has been charged with defrauding investors out of more than $300 million by fabricating financial documents and falsely inflating the company’s performance.

According to U.S. prosecutors, she allegedly used fake bank statements and doctored financial reports to secure funding and loans from prominent investors and lenders. Once considered a pioneer in fashion tech, CaaStle filed for bankruptcy earlier this year. Hunsicker faces charges of wire fraud, bank fraud, and identity theft, and could face decades in prison if convicted.

### Vogue’s AI-Generated Models Cause Controversy

Vogue has come under fire for using AI-generated models in a recent feature, sparking backlash from readers and concern across the fashion industry. Critics argue the move undermines real models and creatives, with many seeing it as a cost-cutting shortcut that erodes authenticity and representation. While Vogue positioned the experiment as an exploration of future aesthetics, the response highlights growing anxiety over AI’s role in replacing - not just augmenting - human talent in fashion.

The controversy reflects a broader reckoning as luxury brands weigh innovation against integrity in the age of generative content.
