### The RealReal Blocks AI Agents From Holding Its Stock

The RealReal has [tightened its bot defences against AI shopping agents](https://www.theverge.com/news/1018713/meta-muse-agentic-shopping-ai-the-realreal?ref=ftw.pi.tv) after The Verge showed how an agent could lock up its inventory. The luxury resale marketplace reserves an item for 20 minutes once a shopper adds it to a cart. Verge reporter Mia Sato told Meta’s Muse agent to add 10 listings to a cart and re-add them each time the hold expired. Those pieces stayed off sale to other shoppers for hours.

[The RealReal](https://www.therealreal.com/?ref=ftw.pi.tv)’s update makes logging in, adding to cart and checking out much harder for every agent. Agents still show its listings and send Muse users through to product pages. The change follows the 8 October rollout of Ask TRR, The RealReal’s own shopping assistant built on Google’s Gemini Enterprise, to its 45 million members.

***Why it matters:*** The cart hold was designed for a human shopper. An agent running around the clock turns the feature into a way to take stock off sale, and in resale every listing is a single item with nothing behind it. Footwear has fought bots on sneaker drops for years. Any retailer running timed drops, reservations or limited releases carries the same exposure.

The RealReal now lets agents help with discovery and keeps them out of the transaction. Put next to Ask TRR, the position is clear. The RealReal wants AI in its funnel, on its own platform, with checkout and customer data kept in-house. Amazon has blocked Muse from shopping too. More retailers will follow until agent platforms give merchants a reliable way to verify and rate-limit their bots.

### URBN Adds Concept-Stage Costing to Bamboo Rose’s PLM

URBN is [expanding its use of Bamboo Rose’s TotalPLM](https://www.theinterline.com/2026/10/28/bamboo-rose-urbn-expanded-totalplm-deployment/?ref=ftw.pi.tv) with Create, a design tool powered by [VibeIQ](https://vibeiq.com/?ref=ftw.pi.tv) and [Bamboo Rose’s Decision Intelligence analytics](https://bamboorose.com/decision-intelligence/?ref=ftw.pi.tv). Design and merchandising teams across Anthropologie, Free People, FP Movement, Urban Outfitters, Nuuly and Terrain will see estimated product costs and margin potential while a concept is still taking shape, before samples exist or suppliers are approached. Approved concepts pass into development without anyone rekeying data.

URBN already runs product development, sourcing, purchase orders and global trade management on TotalPLM. Bamboo Rose presents the addition as a response to changing tariffs and margin pressure.

***Why it matters:*** Most of a garment’s cost is fixed by design decisions on fabric, trims, construction and country of origin. Discovering a cost problem at purchase order stage forces a redesign, a supplier switch or a dropped style, and each is expensive.

Moving the estimate to concept stage is the right instinct. The estimate is only as good as the cost history and tariff assumptions behind it, and with tariffs moving as they have, those assumptions date quickly. The deal also shows where PLM vendors are heading, from system of record to decision support, built on data they already hold.

### Indian Garment Maker White House Cuts Planning Time With Coats Digital

Chennai-based White House [has cut its production planning cycle by 60 to 80%](https://textilefocus.com/white-house-cuts-production-planning-cycle-by-60-80-with-coats-digitals-fastreactplan/?ref=ftw.pi.tv) since adopting FastReactPlan, according to software vendor [Coats Digital](https://www.coatsdigital.com/?ref=ftw.pi.tv). Founded in 1962, the vertically integrated knitwear manufacturer employs around 4,000 people, runs 1,800 sewing machines across five units and turns over roughly $65 million a year. The company makes T-shirts, polos and hoodies for brands including Ralph Lauren, GANT, Marco Polo and Timberland.

Planning previously ran on Excel, email and information scattered across sites, with lead times estimated from experience. FastReactPlan now covers capacity, order scheduling, materials, pre-production tracking and delivery planning in one system linked to White House’s existing ERP. The headline reduction refers to the time planners spend creating and updating plans. Coats Digital also reports better on-time delivery.

***Why it matters:*** This is worth reading alongside the URBN story. A brand estimating cost at concept stage assumes a supplier will hit that price on that date. A factory planning in spreadsheets struggles to confirm either quickly and has little view of its forward capacity. Suppliers of White House’s size make up much of fashion’s sourcing base, and their planning maturity limits how responsive brands become, whatever software runs on the brand side.
